Break On Through (To the Other Side) of COVID-19 Breakthrough Infection

This was not the test result I was expecting to see after receiving a negative PCR test on May 9. 

I am vaccinated, boosted, careful, AND a breakthrough COVID-19 infection caught me sometime after our 51st birthday on May 18.

My breakthrough infection symptoms have kept me isolated in the basement on the couch 🛋 all week: sore throat, headache, fever, chills, nausea, muscle aches, body pain, fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, AND an overwhelming sense of “UGH!” 😩

I haven’t felt this level of overwhelming and all-encompassing sickness for this many days since I caught mononucleosis 29 years ago while at college during one of the worst summers of my life. 

I hope to break on through to the other side of this breakthrough infection soon. Cue, The Doors:

You know the day destroys the night 🌚
Night divides the day 🌞
Tried to run 🏃🏻‍♀️ 
Tried to hide 🫣 
Break on through to the other side 🔜


In the meantime, please be careful. 

If you have not already done so, get vaccinated. 

If you have not already done so, get boosted. 

If you have been lax about masks, wear one. 

If you have been exposed to COVID-19, get tested.

If you have any symptoms, get tested. 

If you have tested positive, isolate.
